Yomna, a Bedouin widow, struggles to retrieve her children from her brother-in-law, Ali. Ali demands her insurance money in exchange for the children, threatening to keep them if she refuses. Her mother, Fatima, advises her to marry him, but Yomna declines.
Defying Ali’s prohibition against seeing her children, Yomna waits for her son, Musa, at his school with the money. After attending to his injuries and promising to secure their return, she is shot to death while leaving.
The film examines cases of “honor killings,” illustrating that they are frequently driven by economic motives rather than tradition.
